BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana Board of Regents Deputy Commissioner Dr. Susannah Craig has been named Interim Executive Director for the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) following the retirement of Dr. Sujuan Boutte.
Dr. Craig will lead the day-to-day operations of LOSFA while a review of the leadership plans for the organization is underway.
“We certainly wish Dr. Boutte all the best in her retirement and thank her for her dedication and service. During this transition, Dr. Susannah Craig will do an outstanding job in the leadership role at LOSFA, working with the team to continue the important work of supporting students across our state,” said Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Kim Hunter Reed. “I am confident that Dr. Craig will bring stability to the organization as it continues to recover from the recent cyber incident.”
LOSFA is responsible for overseeing a full range of statewide scholarship and grant programs, including TOPS, GO Grant, and M.J. Foster Promise. LOSFA also administers the state’s 529 saving programs, which includes the college saving program (START), the educational savings plan for K-12 tuition (START K12), and the savings plan for eligible individuals with disabilities (LA ABLE). In addition, LOSFA conducts high school and community outreach events across Louisiana to inform students and families of their postsecondary financial aid options.
Dr. Craig joined Regents in 2018 as the Associate Commissioner for Teacher & Leadership Initiatives, then served as the Senior Associate Commissioner for Academic Affairs. Prior to her time at the Board, she spent four years as an Associate Professor at Southern University and A&M College and 17 years with the Louisiana Department of Education.
