Maria Nechaeva

Maria Nechaeva is a senior biology major with a minor in psychology at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she serves as President of the Student Government Association. She previously served as the Student Board Member for the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors during the 2025–2026 academic year. Maria is the 47th student to serve on the Louisiana Board of Regents and the first representative from Southeastern Louisiana University to hold the position.

In 2026, Maria served on the presidential search committees for University of Louisiana at Lafayette and McNeese State University. As a two-term SGA President at Southeastern, she implemented operational efficiency measures and helped establish transparent class policies to support students during technology disruptions. Maria is also active across campus as a member of Alpha Sigma Tau. In 2026, she was named Southeastern Woman of the Year.

Elected by her peers through the Council of Student Body Presidents (COSBP), Maria will serve on the Board during the 2026–2027 academic year, with her term concluding on May 31, 2027.
