Simulation Medical Training and Education Council of Louisiana
Act 421 of the 2009 Regular Legislative Session created the Simulation Medical Training and Education Council for Louisiana. The council’s purpose is to develop an infrastructure and governing process to coordinate and maximize simulation training resources and expertise in both urban and rural areas of the state and to enhance the effective use of simulation training for students, faculty, and practitioners throughout the health professions statewide.
About the Council
Welcome Letter
As Chair of the Simulation Medical Training and Education Council of Louisiana (SMTEC-LA), on behalf of the Louisiana Board of Regents, I would like to welcome you to the Simulation Council: Discovering, Sharing, and Leading Simulation Education. The SMTEC-LA was founded in
The purpose of the SMTEC-LA is to develop an infrastructure and governing process that coordinates and maximizes simulation training resources and expertise in Louisiana’s urban and rural areas. The Council’s mission is to enhance the effective use of simulation training for students, faculty, residents, fellows, and practitioners throughout the health profession statewide. SMTEC-LA hopes to bring together simulation novice-expert educators, director/program managers, and simulation specialists from all areas of Louisiana. The council plans to provide professional development and opportunities for collaboration on simulation program development statewide. SMTEC-LA is very excited to provide a means for networking among simulation educator professionals throughout the state.
This council receives funds from the Louisiana Board of Regents. These funds are to be used for educational experiences to train healthcare professional students, staff, and faculty across the state. Such investments are crucial for the development and training of future healthcare professionals in Louisiana. Each one of the simulation educators plays a vital role in the state’s healthcare system.
Best Regards,
Daryl P. Lofaso, Ph.D., M.Ed., RRT, CHSE
